Do Young People Really Enjoy Bingo?

Ever since the Italians started their famous Il Gioco del Lotto d’Italia back in the 1500s the bingo concept has been fascinating to people across Europe and the rest of the world too. Whilst this early form of bingo was quite a lot different to the version we all know and love today, it is important to highlight the Italian’s vital position in setting the groundwork for bingo, a game that is tremendously special for a large variety of people around the world these days.

Over the years bingo has gone from strength to strength, however, one criticism sometimes levelled at it is the fact that it’s a game for old people. This is changing now though, and it got us thinking: do you people really enjoy bingo? Read on for a discussion.

Bingo: Historically for Old People

For one reason or another, the historical idea of bingo in the 21st century is that it is a game for old people, however this isn’t strictly true. It is important to consider why this has been thought to be the case too, as it can uncover a lot of the famous prejudices about bingo as a game. Although bingo has been played for several hundred years in some capacity, commercial bingo only really hit the big time in the mid 20th century.

In the UK things like the Betting and Gaming Act 1960 meant that bingo halls were legal for the first time, and this understandably caused a great deal of excitement. This is also a reason why bingo can be seen as an old person’s game nowadays, because the people who enjoyed playing it back in the 60s have now aged. But they weren’t old when they first started playing, which just proves that bingo can easily be for anyone!
