How Do I Know My Sunglasses Size?

There are a few simple ways to measure your sunglasses size. These include the Eye/lens size, the Frame thickness, and the temple size. You can also take a photo or type it into a note and bring it to the store with you. A good salesperson can use these measurements to determine the right sunglasses for you.

Eye/Lens Size

When buying sunglasses, it's important to know the correct size for your eyes. You can usually measure this in millimeters, or from the inside of the frame. Measure the lenses, bridge and end pieces of the sunglasses. If the width of these components is within 2 millimeters of your face, the sunglasses will fit properly.

The first thing to do is to measure your face. Use a credit card or an online camera to do this. The thickness of a credit card is similar to that of a standard lens size, but varies by brand. Hold the end of the card against the bridge of your nose, or underneath your eyebrow. It should align with the edge of your eye. If the edge extends beyond the edge of your eye, you'll need to purchase a smaller size.

Frame Thickness

Frame thickness is an important consideration when determining sunglasses size. A thicker frame usually means a wider bridge, which helps to balance the weight of the lens. A thin frame, however, might have a smaller bridge. Using an example, a frame with a 19mm bridge would be a good fit for someone with a narrow nasal bridge.

The distance between the bridge and the eye is another important measurement when determining sunglasses size. If your temples are lower than your eye size, you should choose lenses with a bridge width of 49mm or less. If your temples are higher than this, you should choose lenses that are around 55mm or more.

Temple Size

When buying sunglasses, the length of the temples is an important factor in choosing the correct size. This measurement is printed inside the frame, but it can be worn off with time. If you can't find the temple size on your frame, you can measure the length by looking at the frame's bridge. If the temple size is smaller than the bridge size, you should look for a different style.

When buying a new pair, you can measure the temple size of your old pair or borrow a friend's to get a better idea of the size. Most glasses have a measurement on the inside of the left temple. If you have a large temple, you should look for a pair with wider lenses.

General Width

Knowing the general width of your sunglasses is important to make sure you get the right fit. The general width of the frame of your sunglasses is the width of the lenses excluding the end pieces and the bridge. The width of the frame should be at least two millimeters less than the width of your face.

You can also use a ruler to measure the width of your glasses. This is very useful if you don't have the measurements printed on the frame. The bridge width should be around 14 millimetres. The length of the 'arm' that keeps the glasses on your face should be between the middle of the frame and the top of the lens. This measurement should align with the pupillary distance of your eyes.

CE Mark

If you want to buy a pair of sunglasses, you first need to know your frame size. Most sunglasses have a temple length of 120 to 150 millimeters, but certain brands don't include this measurement on the label. Then, multiply the length by the hinge width of the frame to get the exact size of your frame.

The bridge is the part of the sunglasses that joins the lenses together. The bridge width is usually between 14 and 24 millimetres. Then, you should measure the length of the 'arm' of the sunglasses. It should end above your ear. The lens height is the vertical size of the lenses. The lens height varies from brand to brand, but usually falls between 32 and 38 millimetres.
