For this reason, you should wear a hat, thermals and multiple layers. You will also want to take care of your feet. If you're skiing in Hokkaido, the best time of year to do this is during January or February.

During the month of March, there will be some heavy snowfall. This is not as common as the powder days of the early part of the season.

The average high for Hokkaido is around 25 degrees Celsius. However, nighttime temperatures can drop below 0 degrees. Although Hokkaido isn't usually affected by rain, it does experience sea gusts.

In early March, the weather is still quite wintery. Temperatures in Furano can drop as low as -10 degrees Celsius. The chilly temperatures are best appreciated during the day, although evenings can be a bit colder.

Furano offers world-class skiing. Although it does not have the same number of off-piste areas as other Japanese ski resorts, there are some impressive runs.

One of the more exciting features of Furano is the "free flight." Airboarding is an activity that lets you float down the slopes with your face in the snow. This is one of the more unique experiences in the world, and it's well worth the price.

Niigata

Niigata is a Japanese Prefecture located on the northwestern coast of Honshu Island. It is part of the Chubu / Central Japan region. Known for its diverse landscape, this area is perfect for outdoor activities.

The best time to ski in Japan is usually in the winter. However, the weather can be unpredictable and Niigata has the potential to experience periods of rain and snow. Therefore, it is important to wear adequate cold weather gear and stay warm.
